TummyTime! & Baby Massage Workshop

TummyTime! & Baby Massage Workshop

Thursdays from 12:30-1:30pm - January 9th, 16th, and 23rd

In this class, we practice TummyTime!™, baby massage, and calming/relaxation techniques. We also have a lot of fun!

TummyTime!™ helps strengthen baby’s neck, back and trunk muscles, build arm and hand function, and improve tongue and oral skills for optimal latch and feeding. It helps with visual development, tracking, and focus, and facilitates sensory skills. It eases belly function, helps to reduce reflux and gas, and promotes optimal bowel movements. It promotes bonding and connection: engaging in back and forth facial expressions, vocalizing back and forth, smiling, and encouraging touch helps babies feel safe and secure. By allowing babies to explore their world by rotating their head and rotating their bodies in different positions, it may also ultimately help with cognitive development.

There’s no manual for becoming a mom, but there is a name for it… The Matrescence Project is a 9-month, facilitated peer program, aiming to support and gently guide mothers in their new phase of life by providing a community that… 1) Is safe, non-judgemental, and meets mothers where they are.  2) Provides necessary support and practical tools. 3) Celebrates the diversity in each person’s matrescence journey. Each program start puts several new mothers together who are due around the same time. This group will get to know each other at prenatal gatherings, focusing on relevant educational topics. The group will become a close-knit, peer support group as babies arrive and mothers transition to the postpartum period.
